The flowers are in bloom, the birds are chirping, and the air is alive with possibility: it’s April here in the 2nd Street District. After months of being cooped up in the comfort of your home, you step outside at last and explore all of your favorite shops and restaurants without having to worry about crisp mornings and chilly evenings. To kick off springtime, we have an incredible lineup of the best places to eat, drink, shop, and see a once-in-a-generation solar eclipse (hint: it involves a rooftop lounge and a pool!). Here’s everything you need to make the most of springtime in the 2nd Street District.

From National Beer Day to Dining Outdoors – Places Not to Miss This Spring

Lambert’s Downtown Barbecue

Local craft beer at Lambert’s

If there’s one sure sign of Spring, it’s the sight of city streets edged with patios and booths for outdoor dining. Whether you’re looking for a fun get-together with friends or an intimate night out with your special someone, the 2nd Street District has plenty of outdoor dining options no matter the occasion. To celebrate National Beer Day on April 7th, why not enjoy an ice-cold beer at Lambert’s Downtown Barbecue? With one of the best beer selections in all of Austin, Lambert’s is hard to beat if you’re looking to chow down on more baby back ribs than you can count. So kick back, relax, and wash down that smoked brisket with a local craft beer or any number of Lambert’s international brews.

La Condesa

For those of you in the mood for some mezcal and crunchy tortilla tacos, La Condesa’s happy hour is being extended from 5-7 pm. Exclusively at their bar, enjoy ½ off all alcohol and $3 a la carte tacos. La Condesa’s knowledgeable bar staff stand at the ready to answer all your burning – and boozy! – questions about the bar’s selection of craft cocktails. What’s more, La Condesa also offers outdoor seating if you and a gang of coworkers need a round of after-work drinks.

When you’re craving an authentic taste of Italy, head on over to Numero 28 for fresh pasta and crispy pizza straight from the oven. Every Monday through Friday from 4:30–6 pm, Numero 28 hosts a happy hour that’s perfect for relaxing on their beautiful outside patio over a glass of your favorite wine. For a more romantic experience, consider bringing your special someone to Numero28 for a bowl of the restaurant’s signature Cacio e Pepe. Served tableside, this dish of handmade pasta is tossed with pecorino cheese, spicy black peppercorns, and a touch of butter, taking comfort food to another level. Tantalize your taste buds with this mouth-watering Cacio e Pepe video. What’s more, Numero 28 just announced a new brunch menu available on Saturdays and Sundays complete with live music to serenade your senses! The first brunch event kicks off this weekend, Saturday, April 6th.

And then there’s that time-honored Spring pastime of enjoying a picnic in one of Austin’s many parks and green spaces. For your little garden party, Foxtrot’s selection of grab-n-go treats, iced lattes, and hot pastries are the perfect accompaniment. In case you’re an early riser, Foxtrot is also rolling out several truly delicious breakfast specials, like their savory breakfast sandwiches stacked with local ingredients.

Plus, in an exclusive collaboration with Monte, Foxtrot will be offering Spicy Dippin’ Sticks – a scrumptious focaccia-style bread topped with spicy giardiniera butter and parmesan, along with Monte’s award-winning Sweet Pepper Tomato Sauce. Should you want to take the atmosphere up a notch, Foxtrot’s new Sun Lips Orange Wine – specially made in Castilla-La-Mancha Spain, with notes of apricot, peach, chamomile, and thyme – is to die for. Best of all, any of these treats can be delivered straight to your door.
